December 15 - TERN Training:
Audubon Texas will be offering a TERN Waterbird Foraging Monitoring training on
the east side of Galveston Bay on December 15th from 9am
to noon at the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center in
Anahuac, Tx. The Anahuac NWR Visitors Center is located at 4318 FM 1985
Anahuac, Tx 77514
This training will consist of 1.5 hours of presentation training
and 1.5 hours of onsite monitoring to practice the skills learned in the
classroom. Anyone interested in the TERN training is welcome to attend. While
this training will support monthly surveys to be conducted at the Anahuac
Wildlife Refuge by Audubon, Master Naturalist, and the community east of
Galveston Bay, the content learned at the TERN training can be applied at any
location where waterbirds are found feeding. Training at this location
will not require a commitment to monitoring at this location.

Galveston County, interested participants can contact Kari Howard about car

December 16 - Sweetwater Survey:
I wanted to spread the word about our next Sweetwater bird survey date: Tuesday, December 16th from 9am to noon. We will meet at the same location and conduct our bird surveys as we have. Water and snacks will be provided.

We are very hopeful to see some Sandhill Cranes this month since
they have been seen here in the past and I’m starting to get sightings in other
locations in Galveston. If you would like to join us or want more information,
send me an email! We have been increasing our bird list at this site every
month which is very exciting for us!
